Frequently Asked Question

How do I connect to campus networking?
Last Updated 3 years ago

Wireless Internet Access:

The University of Utah provides three campus wireless networks: UConnect, a secure network for students, faculty, and staff; UGuest, an unsecured network for visitors; and ULink, a network for Internet of Things devices. In addition, the University of Utah is part of the eduroam network, and offers secure wireless access to visitors from other participating institutions.

Note that older computers may not be able to connect to our wireless networks as Uconnect is retiring the 2.4Ghz wireless radios.

Connecting to the network on PC's and Macs running Catalina or Older:

First connect to Uguest, and it should pop up a webpage for  onboard.utah.edu, agree to the Terms & Conditions, and follow the on-screen instructions.

Connecting to the network on Macs running Big Sur:

We are awaiting updates for onboard.utah.edu for a Big Sur installer,
In the interim,  you can manually connect to Uconnect using your unid and C.I.S. password,
then use the systems preferences profile installer to activate the wireless certificate.

Connecting to the network on Chromebooks:
Due to the complexities of needing an internet connection to verify user rights on a chromebook (which is necessary to install the wireless security certificate), chromebooks are not listed as supported hardware at the College of Law.

Wired Internet Access

For security reasons, the majority of the wired networking ports in the College of Law are not active. If faculty and staff need a network port activated for College of Law Technology, please submit an activation request via helpme@law.utah.edu including the room number and port number (if visible) or Port location and we'll work on getting those patched through.
